Why 'Thermal Linings' are now known as 'Blockout Linings'
The term "thermal linings" has traditionally referred to curtain linings designed to enhance insulation by incorporating a single layer of acrylic coating, known as a "1 Pass" lining. However, advancements in fabric technology have led to the development of "blockout" or "3 Pass" linings, which consist of three layers of coating, including a central black layer that effectively blocks light and offers superior thermal insulation. Due to their enhanced performance in both light control and energy efficiency, these modern linings are now commonly referred to as "blockout" linings, reflecting their dual functionality.
- Polycotton / Sunteen Lining - Comprising a 50/50 blend of polyester and cotton, polycotton lining is a soft, lightweight option that allows light to filter through. This lining enhances the drape of your curtains, creating a fuller look while maintaining breathability. Polycotton linings are also more resistant to wrinkles and creases, ensuring a neat appearance with minimal maintenance
- 1 Pass Lining - Building upon the polycotton base, 1 Pass Lining features a single layer of acrylic coating on the reverse side. - Blockout / 3 Pass Lining - For those seeking maximum light control and insulation, our Blockout or 3 Pass Lining is an excellent choice. This lining consists of three layers of acrylic coating, with a black layer sandwiched in the middle, effectively blocking out light and providing superior insulation. It's ideal for bedrooms or media rooms where darkness is essential. Please note that light may penetrate through stitch lines
- Interlining / Bumph - Interlining, often referred to as bumph, is a thick, fluffy layer of fabric sewn between the curtain fabric and the lining.
