Yes. We provide a free measure and quote service currently for Wellington, the Kapiti Coast and Horowhenua to Palmerston North. Curtain Easy has a mobile showroom and we will bring the samples to you and provide an in-home consultation and measure at the same time. From there we can provide you with a quote which is generally valid for 30 days.
You can provide your own measurements if you prefer but we can only guarantee fit if we do the measurements. We can provide a price from your measurements and even courier your curtains and blinds anywhere in the country. If you are in the Wellington, Kapiti, Horowhenua or Manawatu area, we would suggest you book an in-home consultation and we'll measure for you. We can also quote from measurements on builders plans if you are building new. However we recommend getting measurements double-checked once on-site measuring is possible.
Upon acceptance of the quote we require a 50% deposit. Fabric and components of your job will not be ordered until the deposit has been received. The balance of payment is due on completion of the installation of the goods and receipt of the final invoice. We accept cash, cheques and online banking transfers for payment. We can also accept debit/credit card payments at your request. Any changes to the job site or client instructions will be charged as a variation to the original quote. Ownership of the goods will not pass to the customer until the payment of the said goods and services has been paid in full. For self-install jobs payment in full is required before goods are supplied. Cancellation of an accepted quote, will result in the loss of 50% of the deposit and incur product restocking fees and returned freight fee.
For our made to order curtains, our manufacturing turn-around is normally 3-5 weeks from receiving fabric (as mentioned above). This can vary throughout the year dependent on busy seasons which are normally Winter and Christmas. If the fabric is in stock in NZ or Australia it usually takes up to a week to be received at our workroom. If the fabric is out of stock we will be able to provide you with an ETA from the supplier. Indented fabrics are ordered from suppliers around the world and they can take up to 3 weeks if in stock. Hard blinds like roller blinds and Venetian blinds usually have a 2-3 week manufacturing lead-time.
Most fabric suppliers recommend their fabrics are dry-cleaned. However, when curtains are lined you will be dealing with two different materials. In this case it is recommended to remove the lining and all hooks before dry-cleaning. You can wash your curtains at home especially for spot cleaning. Spot cleaning can deal with an issue and save you cleaning a whole curtain. Work out what the stain is and treat it accordingly. You can also try steam cleaning to remove smells or airing the curtains out in the sun for a few hours. If you need to wash your curtains DO NOT machine wash them. Instead, fill a bath with cold water and a little dissolved washing powder, swish the curtains around and then hang them to drip dry in the shade. DO NOT tumble dry curtains. Rehang once dry. Any remaining creases can be steamed out.
If you have an issue with mould on your linings you need to address any condensation or airing issues in the room. Mould grows when dust gets damp so keeping your curtains and blinds free of dust will minimise your chances of getting mouldy linings. Use the brush attachment on your vacuum once a month to keep things clean.
Close the blinds and use the brush attachment on your vacuum to remove any dust then close the slats the other way and repeat. Any spots can simply be wiped off with a damp cloth or wet-wipe.
Simply wipe with a damp cloth or wet-wipe but don't scrub hard. Don't use cleaning sprays.
A superior quality lining is always recommended to help prevent fading. New Zealand sun is harsh and nothing is completely fade free. Man-made fibres are supposed to have better light-fastness but saturated colours (deep blues, reds etc) may show fading sooner than neutral colours. Leading edges of curtains (those facing the windows) are particularly vulnerable to sunlight degradation. To help minimise this effect, it is recommended that curtains be rotated periodically i.e. – the left hand curtain swapped to the right hand position. Ensure sufficient ‘stack back’ is achieved to minimise direct sunlight when drawing the curtains off the window during the day. If you are concerned about protecting your curtains from UV light, you may want to consider adding sunscreen blinds or window tinting.
